Night Watches Quilt

This is our progress on our Night Watches Quilt. I'm doing a simple "patch" quilt to make it easier for Nyk to help with the sewing. It's the first step in a renovation of our family bedroom.

The name "Night Watches Quilt" comes from Psalm 63:1, 6-8; "O God(dess), you are my God(dess); eagerly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you... I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the night watches. For you have been my helper, and under the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast."

While sewing this quilt I picture myself sitting in an Amish quilting bee, sewing and talking with sisters. It speaks to a deep, primal need within my soul for sisterhood and sewing.
