Morford: San Francisco values save the world.

Ten percent of Americans believe environmentalists
intentionally sabotaged the oil rig Deepwater Horizon
off the Gulf Coast. Another 22% are unsure. That's almost
one-third of your fellow Americans who, at some point
in their lives, have obviously been abducted by extra-
terrestrials and had their brains sucked out through
bendable straws.

"Obama is blazing a trail of destruction throughout this country, and now it has spread and gone viral to Europe." Rush, the child-molester

Rush is right.
Few people know that Greece put Obama in charge of Greek over-spending when he moved into the White House.

With the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico still unfolding, concerns over threats to wildlife have brought animals into the news quite a bit lately. From the oil spill, to preservation efforts, to zoo developments, pampered pets, harsh environments, invasive fish, a surfing alpaca and more, collected here are a handful of recent photographs of animals and our interactions with them, as companions, caretakers, observers, and stewards.

Oil leak is 5 times greater than reported by officials.

"Why list the facts?  What would the advantage be?"

And so the blame game begins

Oil spill testimony to Congress: Not our fault - BP PLC told Congress Tuesday its massive Gulf oil spill was caused by the failure of a key safety device made by another company.

I wonder how long before BP declares bankruptcy and the US is left with cleaning up their mess? Maybe we should ask the Queen to pitch in and help.

Clinton vows 'long term' commitment to Afghanistan. I hope we stay as long as we did in Japan and Germany. Oh wait. We're still there.

And in a related war story, with Iraqis still reeling from yesterday's attack which left 154 dead and over 600 wounded, the deadliest day in quite some time in the nation, US officials are finally admitting that the August "drawdown" is being reconsidered. There's a shocker.

We fired at least 20 missiles into the North Waziristan Agency today, destroying homes, cars and tents and leaving at least 24 tribesmen killed and an unknown number of others wounded.

I wonder if the Obama kids know that their daddy is doing.

"The church has a profound need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn on the one hand forgiveness but also the necessity of justice. And forgiveness does not substitute justice ... We have to relearn these essentials: conversion, prayer, penance."Benny the Rat, trying to get away with something, Link

No Benny, you and your henchmen need to learn how to use the phone.

When a priest gets caught raping a child, you need to call the police and say,
"Yep, we have another one - come get the son of a bitch."

That bullshit about "relearning penance" is nothing but weasel words
that a criminal uses when he intends to continue his raping of kids.

God is watching - and each time you throw a rape complaint in the trash
God puts another mortal sin mark on your blackened soul, preparing your eternity in Hell.
(Of course that's all crappola, but IF he believes it...)

"We've never seen anybody crash and burn quite as spectacularly as Tiger has. This isn't just one aspect of his life that fell apart. It's everything - physical, mental, emotional - all going kaflooey together. All it lacks is a felony charge to qualify as a total disaster." - Mike Celizic,    Link

But Eldrick did commit a felony.
After he drove drunk and wrecked his SUV, he went to sleep in the damn street.
The cops gave him a free ride because the super-rich don't have to play by our rules.

$12 million?!?! RU freakin' serious?

That's the number that's floating around the publishing world today. Willfully oblivious to P.T. Barnum's warnings, HarperCollins is allegedly throwing MORE money at the Remora of the Right. Looks like Grifterella wised up and is going to pocket the ghostwriter's fee this time:

The book, described as a "celebration of American virtues and strengths," will feature selections of readings that have inspired Palin.

They will include "the nation's founding documents to great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of her favorite songs and movies."

TWELVE million for a f**king Palin version of Bartlett's Book of Quotations?!!

Idiots. They should have gone with this title and cover:

Ted Haggard Incorporates New Church

The world's second-most famous rentboy patron (for the moment) has incorporated a new church in his hometown of Denver.

In January, Haggard and his wife Gayle appeared on Oprah to announce that he'd been cured of the gay (and to promote Gayle's book.)

A Truly Touching Moment

Survivors from the exploded oil rig out in the Gulf arrive on shore after 27 hours on a rescue boat. Transocean, the owner of the rig, takes them to a hotel in New Orleans. Want to leave the hotel? All you have to do is sign this little form saying you haven't been injured and didn't see anything wrong that might have caused the accident. That's what some of the rescuees are now claiming.

Sweet Jesus, I hate America

And so would Jesus. So you'd better hope the Jews are right and that Jesus isn't coming back or 350,000,000 of us will have some fast 'splainin' to do on Judgment Day. http://brilliantatbreakfast.blogspot.com/2010/05/sweet-jesus-i-hate-america.html

Seems some more white collar crooks are being scrutinized:

Morgan Stanley is now being investigated for "criminal" behaviour ...
In my book, if corporations are people, then corporations (meaning their boards of directors) can go to jail too, just like regular folks.

An aside: There are a few oil industry executives I can think of who should be wearing orange jumpsuits too. The Senate Sergeant at Arms should've taken them into custody as they tried to leave the hearing room the other day. If the NYPD arrested 3 guys and they came out with a bullshit story and finger-pointing that these execs did, all of 'em would be in a cell on
Rikers lickety split.

Dear Mr. President ...
Since you're gonna be here in NYC today, I suggest the plans you have to meet with our "first responders" might not be a good idea ... especially since you just cut tens of millions of dollars from the security funds the federal government gives to the city. This is New York, after all, and we tend to speak our minds and many of us are pissed. You will hear about it, and probably in front of a camera.

The Department of Homeland Security is slashing funding for New York City area mass transit security and port security by 25 percent.

Word of the decision sparked outrage among New York lawmakers.
I'm not one of those hide-under-the-bed folks but Jesus, do we have to take another hit before the White House gets its priorities straight? New York is the target, the face of America, and it makes no sense to outfit small town police and fire departments like military units while cutting funding to the place where actual attacks have taken place. Good luck with your photo ops today, Mr. Obama.

So what if she is

Such a serious nation:

Too early to start drinking.

But wingnuts don't care because they'll all be raptured home to Jesus by then.

Dead dolphins wash up on shore

As ThinkProgress has documented, the BP oil spill off of Louisiana's coast threatens more than 400 species, with the potential "devastation beyond human comprehension." Already, brown pelicans, sea turtles, and various types of fish have turned up dead. Now, the National Marine Fisheries Service is reporting that six dolphin carcasses have also been found in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama since May 2. The AP reports that officials are reporting the deaths as "oil spill-related even though other factors may be to blame." Watch a video taken by NRDC staff of dolphins swimming in water with oil dispersants: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRlK3iUyLx8&feature=player_embedded

Ken Starr on right wing attacks on Kagan:

Well it may be good politics but I don't think it's good for the Court. We have been through a generation of very divisive politics which I think is not serving the Court well and therefore I don't think it serves the country well.

It didn't serve the country well when you investigated Clenis, either, douchebag.

Kerry-Lieberman fever can't help global warming bill

America's favorite people.

America's legendary "dream team" of John Kerry and Joe Lieberman reunited to unveil their exciting new Senate bill that's unlikely to change carbon emissions in America — especially because it's unlikely to pass the Senate. Why? Because Lindsey Graham was only going to show the special bill to his Republican boyfriends because of all the "Drill Baby Drill" stuff he put in there for the Oil Industry, but then the Oil Industry is currently having a Gulf Spill Disaster so everybody hates offshore oil drilling again. So when will the USA finally cut its greenhouse-gas output? When the Chinese buy America from the bankruptcy court and *make* us do it, that's when. [NYT/Seattle Times] MORE »

California congressional hopeful and "Lodi grape grower" Brad Goehring — the standard spelling is "Göring," but you can't have everything — recently posted this on his Facebook, and everyone on the Internet loved it: "If I could issue hunting permits, I would officially declare today opening day for liberals. The season would extend through November 2 and have no limits on how many taken as we desperately need to 'thin' the herd." Silly Göring. Maybe if had had said "cull," it would have sounded… well, considerably creepier. His apology was the funniest part, though, and he wrote that on the Facebook too! MORE »
