Mr Speaker v Chief Whip

This ungainly altercation took place in the Chamber yesterday.

Conservative Chief Whip Patrick McLoughlin complained about the way Speaker Bercow had assisted Labour MPs, and then began to walk out of the Chamber as the Speaker reprimanded him.

And Headmaster Bercow smacks down the Chief Whip like a naughty schoolboy. It is demeaning, patronising and humiliating for a senior Government figure to endure such a rebuke.

Frankly, if His Grace were Chief Whip, he would be plotting a strategy to rid Parliament of this biased, inadequate and manifestly partisan Speaker.
