Elections are, or should be, accountability moments as George W. Bush reminded us. So I continue to hold out hope that when voters pull the lever, or connect the dots, or punch the chad or write in the name of their candidate of choice they will come to their senses and refuse to reward a Republican Party that got us into this mess in the first place.  But more than that, it's a Republican Party that has done everything in its power to keep us in crisis after making the cynical calculation that when the country loses, they win.
