Our Life....

Our life seems for full, so expanding, so glowing that I can scarcely think of anything to blog about but the clear and present - NOW.

My mind is swirling with thoughts of our new place. The lease was signed last night. It looks like our move-in date will be sometime in early to mid March. Can you say thrilling? I'm simply beaming and so happy to get out of our tiny one bedroom - though it has served me well and I do love it for it's own beauty. It has been home to us for so long - 3 years now and it was the home where I gave birth to Ronan.

But upward and onward! We will soon have a two bedroom place on 10 acres! *happy sigh* I'll take and post pics the next time we get down to the new place.

In other news....

We recently created our new spring altar.

The Goddess is Ashanti, African Goddess of fertility and those who are down with Ashanti know she's not a happy spring time Goddess of vague fertility - she's the "don't touch unless you want to get pregnant" kind of Goddess. I just felt she needed to come up for a breather and bring her overwhelming fertile gifts to the whole atmosphere of our family. Does that mean we are trying to conceive number three? Not exactly but Seth, myself and some of my closest friends all know another little spirit is hovering around wanting to come through, so let's just say we recently opened the door - tee hee :)

The altar is also sporting some silk flowers, a water color painting and card sent to me by Lizz, hand dipped egg candles, a wooden box carved in Poland, an oracle card featuring a Goddess with a painted egg, my healing stone from the coast of Britiania, a local sea shell, sage smudging stick, a Chalice and Blade frame with pictures of Mariamne and Yeshu (prints taken from paintings my father-in-law did), and a Valentines Day fortune cookie that Nykki made out of felt.

I'm waiting to move and get our finaces all settled so I can figure out how much money I have to go and buy a few decorations for the altar over at the Waldorf Mama Etsy shop - which if you haven't yet checked it out you totally should! I have my eye on a felted egg or two! Then I'm hopping over here to buy the babe a hat.

On the theme of present moment things in life, here's the present moment babe

Holding on to something....

Oya has paid us a visit and like many of the forms that Heavenly Mother takes, this visit does not go unoticed. Stripping away the dead wood and branches of our lives she is clearing Mendocino county out today and is expected to stick around through the weekend to put things in the order she likes.

So put down what you were doing and turn off those silly electrical gadgets, she doesn't like those buzzing things. Sit out an extra plate of food, make up a warm bed and let her do her thing. Oh, and don't try to "save" your stuff, she hates that. The firmer you stand the crisper the sound you make when you break. "The tree that bends in the storm is the one that will survive" come the words of the women's bible which is written on the face of our earth and in the stars of our sky in a language anyone can read.

Rain is poring down upon us like a river from heaven. The steams and creeks are overflowing. The streets are turning into raging white water rapids. People are stranded, roads are closed, thousands and thousands of our Mendocino county brothers and sisters are without power, we are some of the lucky few - our lights are still on for now.

The local stores have been radid, ATM machines are down - cash only policies leave some without means to even attempt to get supplies. The winds blow fierce outside, sounding like the cries and moans of the band sidhe. I tried to sleep last night while the rain gushed down, beating like an enormous drum outside our bedroom. We awoke to the sight of madrone trees being twisted and wretched by the winds.

One friend barely made it to her home this morning, the water was half way up the door to her car. Another friend of ours is staring out her apartment window at a community pool ready to overflow any minute. A family down in town waits as their back yard floods, the water levels drop, and then it floods again. The post office has stopped most service and is only handing out packages in town to those who can make it.

Jack Frost is riding down this way tonight and the rain will turn to snow by tomorrow says the lady on the radio and we expect to see an icy blanket covering the forest tomorrow.

And we'll be here, under wool and corn silk blankets - reading, knitting, telling stories and waiting it out, looking forward to the fresh day after Oya leaves town.

Much respect.

We give thanks for our land

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Today, the day after thanksgiving, we went up to pick mushrooms on the family land. I'm so stoked about this place you can't even imagin. Seth and I are trying to work out a way to move up there as soon as we can - in the meantime we will have to be content with visitation periods, easy since it's only a half hour away.

We picked mushrooms, coccoras mostly. Nykki loves to find and clean them of, carfully pulling of the universal veil tissue. He looks for bumps in the ground and runs for them, brushing off the dirt to reveal the mushroom growing beneath he helps us look for "walky talky mushrooms" (his way of saying matsutaki mushrooms).

I did some tree huggin'

We spelled out Love with pine cones.

And Nykki practiced his letters - unschooling in the forest.

Truly a sacred place.....
