Google Doodle celebrate 50th Anniversary of the First Human Spaceflight

Who is Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, Wikipedia answer: (Russian: Ю́рий Алексе́евич Гага́рин,Russian pronunciation: [ˈjurʲɪj ɐlʲɪˈksʲeɪvʲɪtɕ ɡɐˈɡarʲɪn]; 9 March 1934 – 27 March 1968, was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961. Gagarin became an international celebrity, and was awarded many medals and honours, including Hero of the Soviet Union. Vostok 1 marked his only spaceflight, but he served as backup to the Soyuz 1 mission, which ended in a fatal crash. Gagarin later became deputy training director of the Cosmonaut Training Centre outside Moscow, which was later named after him. Gagarin died when a training jet he was piloting crashed in 1968.

Google Commemorate 50th Years of of The Flintstones Since Man Went Into Space.

Google has started displaying a special logo celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight. On April 12, 1961 Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin flew the Vostok 1 space craft into orbit becoming the first human to reach outer space.

The doodle sports a retro look and is inspired by Soviet posters of the era. It features Gagarin, the first man in space, in full space suit.

It also features a short animation, activated when hovering over the Google logo, showing the Vostok-K rocket, which carried the Vostok spacecraft, launching into space. As usual, the logo still displays the Google name, written in a special font.

The first manned flight into space is one of the big events of the 20th century and marked a pivotal point in the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States, which started with the first artificial satellite in space, the Sputnik 1 satellite, launched four years prior to the first manned flight.

The Space Race culminated with the first Moon landing, in 1969, just 8 years after the first man reached space. The Americans got to the moon first, of course, while the Russians later focused on the Soyuz program.

Google Doodle celebrate 119th Anniversary of Ice Cream Sundae

119th Anniversary of the First Documented Ice Cream Sundae, Sundae+_Google_Doodle, image, photo, picture, video Happy 119th Anniversary Ice Cream Sundae
The sundae is an ice cream dessert. It typically consists of a scoop of ice cream topped with sauce or syrup, and in some cases other toppings including chopped nuts, sprinkles, whipped cream, or maraschino cherries.

No dessert could be simpler than the Ice Cream Sundae – a scoop of ice cream, a sweet topping, and the ubiquitous whipped cream and cherry at the top. But icons are never really that simple, and, perhaps more than any other dish, the Sundae is an American icon. Like people, nations are what they eat. More than any other native dish, the Ice Cream Sundae is an essential reminder of the American genius for invention, passion for indulgence, and reputation for wackiness. The French may have given refinement to ice cream with their coupes and parfaits, but it took American excess and ingenuity to create the Sundae. It's as messy and irresistible as democracy itself.

Sundaes are us, and they have been pleasuring our collective senses ever since 1892, when an enterprising Ithaca, New York, soda fountain proprietor accessorized a scoop of ice cream with sweet syrup and candied cherry, then named it after the Sabbath. A sundae is not just any dish, but a dessert that is original, enduring, and authentically American. For well over a century, the ice cream sundae has been a symbol of our abundance and appetite, our ingenuity, and our never-lost youth. In their assembly, sundaes provide an unrestrained opportunity to express our essential character. They acquire personality not only through their combination of ingredients, but through the history that they witness. During the twists and turns our country has taken over the past hundred or so years, ice cream sundaes have been standing by to lift our spirits. After the 1929 stock market crash, one of the few luxuries that average folks could afford was the democratically-priced sundae. During World War II, patriotic "Victory Sundaes" included a Defense Saving Stamp with every purchase, while the Navy commissioned floating ice cream parlors - refrigerated barges with ice cream plants - to boost troop morale. In wartime and in hard times, home refrigerators were stocked with ice creams that, with a dash of imagination, provided the basis for an irresistible sundae.

Following the classic model, sundaes are served in footed, tulip-shaped glasses, filled with scoops of ice cream as the foundation for interplays of sauces or syrups, perhaps the crunch of nuts, and often a cloud of whipped cream and signature cherry. Florence Fabricant of The New York Times called author Michael Turback's A Month of Sundaes (Red Rock Press, 2002) "an admiring portrait of a famous temptation-weaves together sundae history, regional styles, folklore and recipes." Seven years and many sundaes later, Turback returns to his favorite topic and provides what has got to be the definitive listing of 100 versions of the classic dessert - from humble, forgotten relics to dishes that have become popular standards, arranged in alphabetical order and instantly accessible. Ice Cream Sundae: 100 Greatest Fountain Formulas is more than just a collection of recipes. On every page there is a scoop of history, a measure of technique, and a sprinkle of trivia, all in aid of explaining the unique Americaness of the sundae.

Robert Bunsen Birthday Google Doodle: Sir Robert Bunsen - 200 years of science.

Google Doodle Commemorate 200th Birthday of German chemist Robert Wilhelm Eberhard Bunsen.

"As an investigator he was great, as a teacher he was greater, as a man and friend he was greatest."

Bunsen was one of the most influential chemistry teachers of his time - some of his students included the noted Irish scientist John Tyndall and Dmitri Mendeleev, the creator of the Periodic Table.

Bunsen was born in Germany in 1811 and is probably best remembered for inventing (or at least refining the design of) the Bunsen Burner. His father was a professor of modern languages at Gottingen and he received his doctorate from that university at the age of 19.

The chemist collected gases from the erupting volcano and analysed the volcanic rock. He also investigated the theory of geyser action and showed that the water from geysers was not volcanic in origin and that the boiling of water below the surface caused the water above to move upwards:

"To confirm his theory, Bunsen made an artificial geyser, consisting of a basin of water having a long tube extending below it. He heated the tube at the bottom and at about the middlepoint. As the water at the middle reached its boiling point, all of the phenomena of geyser action were beautifully shown, including the preliminary thundering. That was in 1846. From that day to this Bunsen's theory of geyser action has been generally accepted by geologists." (Darrow, 1923)

Twitoaster shutting down this Sunday [SCREENSHOTS], twitoaster_shutting_down_this_Sunday_nugglepurl PICTURE: Time to unplug the toaster: Twitoaster shutting down netflix
As of March 21 Manila time 1:06 am Twitoaster is Down.

From product goals to technical stuff, there are many areas where Twitoaster needs to evolve and to be improved. And I unfortunately don’t have the time anymore to work on all of this. So this Sunday (March 20th):
  • The Twitoaster API will be totally shut down (read & write). Any external service relying on it will obviously cease to function (i.e. Twitoaster WordPress plugin). Please note this also includes the feeds!
  • The website will remain accessible in a “read-only status” for some time. That means you’ll still be able to access your threaded timelines, conversations, rankings… but nothing will be updated anymore and you won’t be able to login with your #twitter account.
I really wanted to thank you guys again for using Twitoaster. Take a last bite in the toasts while they’re still hot. I’ll update this post when I’ll actually unplug the toaster.

Tips to Fix Time in Blogging, Organize_Time Skype Down for Many Users
Millions affected as Skype goes down: Skype has explained today’s downtime on its blog, nothing that “Customers using the enterprise version of Skype for Windows  may still experience delays signing in.”

Last month, Skype hit a new usage record, hosting 25 million people on its service concurrently, speaking to both the ubiquity of the service and the problem created when it goes down. Let’s just hope this doesn’t rival the Skype outage of 2007, which saw the service down for an extended period of time.
Update (3:20 p.m. ET): Skype has posted an update on its blog , assuring users that the service should return in “a few hours.”

Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free, while calls to both traditional landline telephones and mobile phones can be made for a fee using a debit-based user account system.
